PANTOGRAPH DISCONNECTOR DESIGNATION: PG VOLTAGE: **5kV to **5kV CURRENT: Up to ***0A INTRODUCTION The Pantograph Disconnector is a divided support single column disconnector with vertical isolating distance used in outdoor high voltage Sub-stations. This type of disconnectors permit the design of modern switchgear installations with minimum-space requirement. CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES An attractive simple design and high reliability are the main advantage of S&S disconnectors. This type of Disconnector consists of a post insulator and an operating rod insulator. CONTACTS Each pantograph poles consists of four arms & at the end of arm silver plated copper contacts are fixed that makes contact with the trapeze (fixed hanging contact) which is also silver plated. The current transfer takes place from the trapeze to the bottom aluminum housing through four arms and number of silver plated bronze ball contacts that are housed in grease packed bronze housing. Disc springs are provided to maintain the contact pressure on the bronze balls against the bronze castings. The complete assembly is factory fitted and no adjustments are required at site. DEAD CENTRE MECHANISM The Pantograph Disconnectors are equipped with the dead centre mechanism that ensures the locking of disconnector in both close and open position in case of extreme external forces such as wind force, short circuit force, seismic force etc. LINKAGES Tie rod ends are provided in the linkage to eliminate the consequent lost motion even after number of operations.
